Magazine article
Analysis:
By looking at our previous analysis that we created using articles found in a typical music promotional magazine, we decided to use that as inspiration for ours, drawing heavily on the use of minimalistic design and colour schemes. To begin, we used a black background to draw the viewers attention to the promotion and then used colours such as yellow for the text so that they would stand out from the page and make themselves seen, not just the viewer having to look.
Moreover we used a rating methods from renowned music aggregators such as Kerrang and the Telegraph to increase the popularity of the song as it has been given an outstanding review from at least 3 big names in the music business and so the viewer will believe that the album is worth buying.
Furthermore we had the album cover on the promotion as well so that one could recognise it immediatly after viewing this advertisement, naturally this related back to our music video as well as the banana on the black and white background is present on the album cover, so this only spreads our promotional influenceand that it shows that these promotions have synergy in which they all link and advertise each other.
Ancilliary text 1 - CD
Analysis:
In keeping with the recurring theme of madness and colour within our music video, we decided to make the digipack follow that same theme. As one can see it is indeed colourful and rather mad when you look at it, but it also contains the characters from our video, promoting a link between the two, plus is you had already seen the video, then this would certainly stand out from the crowd when you are buying music.
There is an overwhelming sense of fun that eminates from this album through the use of colour and the outifts the characters wear, a theme which was again present within the video, so these promotions provide a synergy that creates a very effective advertising campaign as they all advertise each other.
Furthermore we only showed the sillouhettes of the characters and coloured them, which was a theme in our video, the use of colour is effective given the dark background and we took inspiration from Rorschack Ink Blot tests and various James Bond film openings.
Lastly as the cover is fun and colourful, it makes one wish to laugh when they set eyes upon it, therefore making it memorable and more likely to sell well. Furthermore, laughter and joy are powerful methods of selling and promoting and we believe this satisfies both of those criteria.
